Drivers!

Why do people drive so badly! A little bit of rain and they seem to forget the simple things they were taught. Oops sorry, they do that without the rain…

Maybe it’s my impatience but hells bells, cars have indicators for a reason.

And say thank you when someone gives you a show. At least you were given the gap. You just need to lift your hand or use your hazards, it takes a few seconds.

I’m sure I complained about drivers driving badly a while ago but I have had a horrendous couple of days. Can’t someone invent something so we can communicate with other drivers on the road? Actually so I can scream/swear at them. Oh no, I think I am becoming that grumpy, nasty old driver who drives 50km/h in the fast lane… Not!

Here’s to smooth driving. Fingers crossed, I’m going into the traffic in 5 minutes, urgghh.

Mist / Fog – Photo’s

Here are the photo’s I couldn’t post with my blog earlier. Have a look at how great the afternoon light looked. So many people on the beach and lots of surfers in the water, not seen on these ones.

Mist / Fog

This morning I woke up to a misty fog filled morning and couldn’t see beyond the hotel window. I have not seen mist this thick in many years and yet it was so ethereal.

It was quite a shock as we have been having magnificent weather, especially so late into autumn. I will post photo’s later today as my cable isn’t working right now. They were taken on Friday afternoon at Muizenberg Beach, it was after 4pm but have a look later.

I did wonder when the cold was going to start creeping in. Well I shall wonder no longer.

The kids go back to school tomorrow and our home is slowly but surely taking shape. I will post photo’s once it’s ready for human habitation.

For now I think I’ll get back into bed. Have a beautiful Sunday.

SA Champs – Port Elizabeth

This past weekend was SA Champs and this time it was hosted by Kings Beach SLSC in P.E.

Our hosts were great, the atmosphere was hectic and exciting but the best, in my opinion, was seeing our friends from Durban and having copious amounts of wine and long chats.

We had one day of miserable weather, overcast skies, chilly air and cold wind but the other days were cool with enough sunshine to don our jackets.

The competition was stiff and as much as we wanted our club to win (Fish Hoek), we didn’t, we came 6th, which was not bad, so next year we’ll aim higher.

Our old club from Durban, (Suncoast Pirates) came 2nd, congrats to them. The winner was another Durban club, Durban Surf.

What amazed me this year was how all the kids had improved, and watching them on the Malibu boards or swimming around the buoys was awe inspiring, so much so that on that day I was keen enough to want to try the Mali Board. Now in hindsight, I think not, especially with the cold Cape waters. You never know though, if I’m still blogging by next summer I’ll let you know.

One other thing I forgot to mention, was the magnificent scenery on our drive through the garden route. And those huge wind turbines were a fantastic sight. If ever you have the opportunity and time then drive that way, it was worth every km…
